Another Lathering experiment with Mystic Water Shaving Soap

This starts out similar to last weeks entry, dry lather bowl, moist brush with all excess water shaken out, 30 revolutions on soap.

DSCN164730 Revolutions in dry bowl

DSCN1648Add 1/4 teaspoon of distilled waterDSCN1649And again (1/2 teaspoon total)

DSCN1650And again (3/4 teaspoon total)

DSCN1651And again (1 teaspoon total)

DSCN1652And again (1 1/4 teaspoon total)

DSCN1653And again (1 1/2 teaspoon total)

DSCN1654And again (1 3/4 teaspoon total)

DSCN1655And again (2 teaspoons total)

DSCN1656This is were I stopped and tried 2 teaspoons all at once!

Started the same, dry lather bowl, moist brush with all excess water shaken out, 30 revolutions on soap.

DSCN165730 Revolutions in dry bowl

DSCN1658Dump 2 teaspoons of water in…

DSCN1659Lathered about 300 to 350 revolutions (It took much less time to do it this way! Maybe I’m on to something.)

DSCN1660Let it sit about 30 seconds and whipped it about 100 revolutions more…

DSCN1661Ok, so how about the same test with normal tap water? This is what it looks like after about 30 revolutions. Kind of a sloppy mess, but it will firm up nicely. Just don’t get overzealous and fling soap water all over the place!

DSCN1662Again about 300 to 400 revolutions (quicker than the approx 1,200 doing it 1/4 teaspoon at a time)

DSCN1663Let it sit about 30 seconds and give it another 100 revolutions…

DSCN1664So, either way. For me the end result is about the same. 2 teaspoons of water and it’s shave ready without question. Just my 2 teaspoons…I mean cents…worth.

  1. Another great one Rick… I tried some of your lathering experiments for myself today and got some of the best lathers that I’ve EVER gotten. Thanks, Joe
